Culture of Coffee Shops in Savannah
Ethnographic Research

We are a group of graduate SCAD students that attempted to understand the culture of Savannah’s coffee shops through using ethnographic research methodologies.

We discovered patterns, trends, insights—synthesizing into opportunities—that can be implemented to further enrich the community that uses these coffee shops here in Savannah regularly. We believe that coffee shops are fascinating. They are places where many community members come together for a multitude of reasons. They have existed for centuries, often for different reasons, and continue to serve an important function to the communities they serve. Particularly here in Savannah, there is an abundance of coffee shops which we hope to uncover their individual and collective contributions to the fabric of the town.
